Since his admission as a solicitor in 1983, Paul has gained extensive experience practising within the city of Sydney, the Sydney suburbs, Wollongong and the United Kingdom.
Paul believes strongly that the key to Etheringtons’ success is our ability to listen to what our clients want, advise them on what is achievable and then determine the objectives in their best interests.
Paul’s commercial and business service offerings include acting on the sale and purchase of companies, shares and businesses, drawing up contracts for shareholder, joint venture and supply agreements, advising on related aspects of Trust Law.
Paul has conducted negotiations and settlements of shareholder and inter-corporate disagreements and disputes. He has also advised clients in more formal mediation conferences involving not just the disputing parties, but impartial mediators. His dispute resolutions skills extend from pre-litigation stage to the conclusion of court proceedings.
Paul has worked on simple and complex Family Law matters, including children’s matters involving relocation within Australia and overseas. Paul has handled property matters with a modest asset pool to multi-million dollar asset pools, including family trusts and overseas assets.
The scale and breadth of Paul’s Family Law work extends from straight forward divorces to divorces involving separation but where the parties are still living under the one roof; child support agreements; financial agreements and reaching agreements through negotiations, mediation, collaborative practice and through the Court process. He has experience in dealing with married, de facto and same-sex relationships.
In addition to his Commercial, Business and Family Law experience, Paul also practises in areas of law which revolve around other matters of concern for families, including wills, powers of attorney, enduring guardians, estate planning, conveyancing, the administration of deceased estates and acting in disputed estates. He has years of experience assisting clients to plan for their future and their family’s future.
Paul is committed to a comprehensive and meticulous approach when handling all matters, consulting external experts whenever necessary.
Paul sets as one of his aims the possible resolution of any dispute before it progresses to Court; but this all depends on the attitude of the people involved. Paul firmly believes that with the right attitude, disputes can be resolved without any need for formal litigation.
Paul is also a Public Notary.
